HTML full form is a hypertext markup language, which can be referred to as the markup Language of the web, all the webpages that we use on a day-to-day basis are based on and coded in HTML, but it is not only HTML which is rendering the whole page, HTML is integrated with technologies like Css and Js to make it stylized, interactive and user-friendly.
HTML is a good way for document representation and information architecture but apart from that HTML will not be able the make websites look aesthetically refined and interactive, to add interactiveness and aesthetics the HTML is integrated with CSS and JavaScript via linking the CSS and JS files with HTML file, in simple words the JS and CSS resources are linked with each HTML document to render a clear, defined and aesthetically pleasing website.
HTML is developed by the World Worldwide Consortium and an extended version has also been developed called XHTML. HTML has gone through many iterations since its inception and now HTML 5 which is loaded with features can embed all MIME types.
During the early 90s, the internet-based hypertext system was proposed, the HTML started with 18 basic elements, and to this date 11 of them are used, so a novice and simple approach laid the foundation of the huge network we call the internet.
The creators of HTML were working at CERN and they had been working with technology called SGML. SGML is also a markup language and this language can also be deemed as a technology that was influential in the development of HTML.
In 1995 the first HTML working group was created by IETF, and the working group launched HTML 2.0. In the year 2000, HTML became an internal standard (ISO/ IEC 15445:2000).
HTML 5 was standardized in the year 2014, by joint efforts made by the WORLD HYPER TEXT APPLICATION TECHNOLOGY WORKING GROUP and the W3C consortium.
